Unfortunately, back over deaths are not uncommon and the number of fatalities are increasing every year. So far this year at least 41 children in this country have died after being backed over by a vehicle. Two years ago there were at least 91 children killed, last year's numbers are not available. Below are only a few of the tragic stories that have hit the wires, don't let yours be the next to be added.

* A two-year-old Portsmouth girl was killed in her driveway when her brother backed over her in the family van. She lived with her mother and stepfather, two brothers and a sister in a white house. She slept in a SpongeBob SquarePants bed, and she could spell "Elmo." She liked to send all of her talking dolls chattering at once.

* A toddler celebrating his third birthday killed in a back over accident in Maryland. The family said that if he were alive, he would put his hands on their cheeks, instruct them to take a deep breath and tell them that it's all right. " We just keep thinking he's going to come back to the door. It just doesn't feel real."

* A College Hills boy died after being struck by a pickup truck during a party celebrating his 4th birthday. The truck left the scene and people at the party reported the incident. The truck driver later returned to the apartment building and said he didn't know his truck had hit the child.

* A mother in Lawton, Okla., killed her 2-year-old son while moving her pickup truck out of the way so that the toddler could ride his tricycle in the driveway.
